Upcomming changes

19/04/2011

In a few days we're pushing a few changes to the test server. One of them is a rather drastic change in the Market building, so here we go:

  • From now on your resources, runes and equipment has to travel over the map. That means that it will take a certain time for your resources to reach your target. We call this time a transaction. The speed of the traders will be a little faster than a regular army, but also based on distance.
  • There will be a limit of 2 transactions at a time per market level. The bigger you are, the more you can send away.
  • Per transaction you will be able to send out 2 runes.
We know this will greatly influence the way you trade, but we hope it will also add a new dynamic to the game. And, obviously, it's a little more realistic as well.

Other changes to the testserver include a few changes to the battle mechanics and another update on the unit and equipment stats.

Rest assured, these changes will not hit stable yet, but it is our intension that it will be pushed to the stable server quite soon.

Please discuss in the forum.

Future of Dolumar

13/02/2011

A couple of days ago, Milan and I had a meeting about how we are going to manage Dolumar in the future. As you've all been aware, there has been some struggle between the moderators and some players for the last few months. In order to avoid such struggle in the future, we are taking a number of actions:

  • All non-game enforced rules, such as the rules proposed by Demonic, are voided. There is too much dispute about these rules, thus we have decided that we will not manually enforce these any longer. They will, however, be replaced by ingame mechanics that will prevent such behaviour as described in the proposed rules.
  • We are going to review our moderators. Anyone who's interested in becoming a new moderator can apply here. We will also listen to the feedback from players in order to pick a moderator team that is acceptable to anyone (please use the forum for this). Please apply before February 17th.
  • Decisions made by moderators will be non-disputable. You can, however, report improper moderator behaviour directly to me. Endless discussions in the forum will no longer be tolerated.

Development wise there will also be a couple of changes. We have decided to continue with this project and make it more advanced than ever. While we will keep working on the test server, we will now push a new stable release monthly. We will also communicate upcomming changes to the players, so that these changes can be discussed in the forum. In short, we would like to include the player base in our discussion by opening up the communication between the developers and the players.

Changes you will see in the following months include a few changes to the battle system (we are getting rid of the random factor), a proper review of the unit and equipment statistics, limits to trading and the very secret "underworld" feature, about which we will release more information soon.

On other news: the Dolumar Facebook application now accept facebook credits as a payment method; maybe it's time to spent those 15 facebook credits you got for free all those months ago.

Stable 1 shutdown

06/02/2011

After running for over two years, we've finally shut down the old stable server. Congratulations to verveelmijke, who has won the game with 136510 points, spread over 8 villages!

Price for the biggest village goes to KELEVRA, a single village with a 34240 points value.

TH was the biggest clan, with a total of 789290 points (almost double the value of The Black Riders with 348900 points).

You can find the complete ranking (soon) on this website. Congratulations to everyone who sticked until the end!
